Joyce Penland, an associate with Bacon Lee & Associates, has extensive experience in annual giving, major giving, capital campaigns, strategic planning and development office management.  Prior to joining Bacon Lee & Associates, she was assistant head master of development at St. Mary’s Hall and director of development at Trinity University for more than 20 years. She frequently presents seminars on successful fundraising strategies and managing staff and volunteers to development professionals, donors and board members.

Participants will discuss I) development of the recruitment process, 2) formalizing the nomination and election processes, and 3) methods to effectively orient and engage new members. Participants will receive tips, tools, and a template to adapt to their unique situation and needs. Attendees will also explore ways to engage and enhance the enjoyment of board service for individual members.
